Bolivian wines are little known but have some special gems among them. Tarija is the main wine producing region and a wonderful landscape to enjoy. It's also a great starting point to explore the southern altiplano, including Butch Cassidy region and the magnificen Uyuni Salar

Itinerary

DAY ONE

Depart La Paz by flight to Tarija. Full day exploring the wine region and sampling the various wines on offer. Night in Tarija

DAY TWO

Morning tour of Tarija’s colonial centre before continuing overland to the wild west town of Tupiza. Sleep in Tupiza.

DAY THREE

Following the fabled route of Butch Cassidy, we travel on horseback and 4×4 to visit the various villages, return to Tupiza.

DAY FOUR

Cross the altiplano through rock forests and areas of giant cactus before reaching the edge of the Salar de Uyuni

DAY FIVE

A full day crossing the Salar de Uyuni, chance to mountain bike across the flats and enjoy a picnic lunch in the centre of the salt lake. Sleep at the base of the Thunupa volcano

DAY SIX

Early transfer to Uyuni for your flight to La Paz, transfer to hotel.
